About St. Barnabas Gaelic Football Club

St. Barnabas Gaelic Football Club has been in existence since 1972 and has achieved many great sporting honors since its first championship was won in 1974 with the Under 12’s capturing the first of many New York titles for St. Barnabas.

Presently, our club is growing in leaps and bounds.   We are fielding teams in every age level from Under 6’s through the senior level and having great success both on and off the field.  This is due in no small part to the commitment of so many coaches, managers and behind the scene helpers who keep our club strong and vibrant.

St. Barnabas has produced a host of great players who have gone on to represent New York in many divisional levels, including the U14 New York Feile squads, Minor teams who have represented New York in Ireland, the college team that travels to England to compete each year, playing for New York in the Connaught championship, as well as in the New York Junior, Intermediate and Senior competitions.

We are very proud to have our own facility in Paddy’s Field, which serves as a great resource for not only our club but all the Gaelic clubs in the New York area.  It was with great foresight that our founder, Paddy Markham, worked very hard, with a lot of help from the club’s members as well as many local politicians, in the late 1970’s to develop a field solely for the use of Gaelic games.  In 1979 Paddy’s Field was officially opened and blessed.

Over the years, our club has involved tens of thousands of people including players, parents, patrons, supporters, sponsors and fans in our many activities.  Countless hours of enjoyment, good fun and great sport have been enjoyed by all and have made for wonderful memories.  We look forward to continuing the wonderful tradition of teaching and playing Gaelic Football and Hurling for many years to come.
